ABOUT ABRAHAM RIVERA

My 3  years at Taliesin was an eye-opening experience. Taliesin is an abstract architectural education that uses the ideology that Architecture is a communal effort. The Architect must understand history, know design and have a degree of empathy not found in the average person (a firm grasp on reality). It was my goal in my first year to shed pre- conceived ideas that i had about my profession and my life and start anew. Moving forward in respect to my education I require a degree of conceptual repetition.

Harcore form, continuity of plan, and historical precedent will be the groundwork for my next projects. In architecture, repetition is at times perceived as brilliant (it burns). Much like in music a single note can keep rhythm better than if you have a hundred. The spacing of elements can create harmonious continuity.

Highlighting the experiences that I found the most beneficial is a good exercise at this point of my education. Understanding myself in a communal role and as a student are the columns that will hold.

As a community member, I have not been as integral as I would like to be. This season I have been trying to find a project that I could defend myself with and benefit the community. I plan on developing the projects that I have started.

Taliesin has been more than gracious with its resources and I am very happy with the quality of work that had been produced while I was enrolled. There were times that i did feel out of my element but I believe that I have evolved and will continue to evolve. I am excited to continue my work as a student, I would like to make a declaration I will never fall back on prior work and I will never rest on my laurels. As a community member, I will do my best to ensure the integrity of the collective.
